USA Growth in Millionaires

The United States mints over 1,000 new millionaires every single day-weekends included.

According to data compiled from the UBS Global Wealth Report the U.S. added roughly 379,000 new millionaires over a single year. When you break that massive number down, it translates to roughly 1,038 individuals reaching a seven-figure net worth each day.

A closer look at this wealth creation reveals several key dynamics:

• The Global Share: The U.S. is the undisputed global leader in wealth generation. It accounts for nearly 40% of all millionaires worldwide, despite making up just over 4% of the global population.

The Drivers: This daily surge isn’t primarily driven by the lottery or massive inheritances. Instead, data points to sustained long-term appreciation in the equity markets (like 401ks and personal portfolios), rising real estate values, and small business/side-hustle growth.

The “Everyday Millionaire” (EMILLI): Most of these new additions fall into what UBS calls the “Everyday Millionaire” tier-individuals with a net worth between $1 and $5million in home equity and retirement accounts.

• The “Self-Made” Reality: Research across the wealth management sector consistently shows that roughly 80% to 85% of current U.S. millionaires are self-made, first-generation wealthy individuals who built their assets over a span of 25 to 30 years.

Looking ahead, this pace is expected to remain high. Driven by the early stages of a historic “Great Wealth Transfer” (as Baby Boomers pass down an estimated $83 trillion over the next two decades) and technological booms like Al, projections estimate the total U.S. millionaire population will climb past 25 million by 2028.
