Unemployment

"Actively seeking employment" refers to the efforts made by individuals who are currently without a job to find new work. This means that people are taking concrete steps such as applying for jobs, contacting potential employers, attending interviews, registering with employment agencies, or using other methods to secure paid work. To be counted in the official unemployment rate (U-3), a person must be not only jobless but also engaged in such job search activities within a recent period, typically the past four weeks.
